If I get it, I'll be playing through the first time with my Mesmer. The only question I have is this: Will it take longer to get into a PUG or set up the customizable henchies?

Don't what I'll do as far as the new professions go, I'll probably give them a try after the mad rush is over & see how they pan out for playability.

I don't speak for everyone, but I can definitely say I am not even going to bother with the new jobs until I complete it with my main characters. I might reserve a new character just to have the name set and ready to go, but I'm more anxious about getting new skills/armor for my mains.

i might wait till the hype dies down before buying, only problem witht that is i will miss all the high prices for selling items..easy gold to be had at the release of each new chapter

all those that paid 100+80e for a req8 dual are prob cursing themselves now that you can buy one for 150k

I'm definitely getting the new dervish prof, although i think the overpopulated new prof issue will happen again in Nightfall..just like Factions. There used to be parties filled with assassins...and if u dont play the new prof well, ppl will hate the new profs again.../sigh

Assassins and ritualist were hard to master because of two facts, i think.

First, those professions need to be played in specific roles or tactical teamwork. Assassin needs to attack after the tank gets the aggro and chain her skills carefully, and a ritualist needs time to set up her spirits.

Second, leveling up so fast made it hard to comprehend the performances of the the new professions and the new foes. Its has been said that playing a mesmer is hard, and maybe so, but any mesmer can learn her job at the tranquil pace of Prophecies. But the assassin was not granted with that blessing.

After saying so, i think people are learning faster after Factions, that they learned the way to play a dervish or a paragon real quick in the PvP beta event, and that they will do the same for the PvE, so the "oops i died" factor of the rookie assassins will not be an important issue. And as it has been quoted here Dervishes and Paragons have better self defenses than the Assassin.

"people that have no guild wars expirience and jump blindly into nightfall" quoted from earlier in the thread.

I'm sorry but that just sound too eliteist to me! I bought prophecies and didn't know what I was doing, should I have not bothered? I then bought factions, yes I knew a little bit more than before. However people have bought factions and then bought prophecies since. The point is, you have to start somewhere!

I went through prophecies with my necro then when factions came out I went and set up a sin and ritualist. I got bored with the rit so continued my sin. She was the first melee fighter I liked, I had tried warrior in prophecies but didn't take her any further from searing

Anyway, I still play my sin bought her some nice shiny armour and spend most of my time with her as my main character. I am however building up my other characters as well! I now have a warrior, that I am starting to like. I have a ranger who is ok but I need to spend some more time on, my rit has gone nowhere for months and my necro gets a run out with guildies when needed for prophecies missions.

My sin is my fun character, remember a sin is for life not just for factions!

I will try out the new characters first, before bringing in the older ones. Why? because that is what the story is about, this is their environment. I will not however be paying silly money for items. I'll stick with bonus items unless I find a better one. As my character develops then I will be on the lookout for the nice armour. I am only buying 15k armour for the characters I really like, it's become a bit of an addiction now

I'm looking forward to the new release and the challanges it has. One of the best challanges for me being a sin was the not being liked! I actually liked that, because it forced me to learn how to use her correctly and how she should work with a team.

Between the fact that both Dervish and Paragon have significant survival and supportive roles, and we will have custom henchies to build solo or partial parties much better, I think we will be very well off.

There is going to be a hype around every new addition, the only real issue is how supportive the new classes are to a party, because every good class should have supportive skills.

Odd...I noticed exactly the opposite.... Most people I saw with a rit or assassin made it one of their main characters to play, and it seemed (and still does) that everyone wants to leave shing jea as soon as possible....

To me, paragons don't look very interesting. Rits didn't really look very interesting for me before factions was released, but what I thought about rits then, compared to what I think about the paragons now, makes the rit seem godly as far as how interesting it is...

And the only thing I see with the assassins and dervishes, is that they are both melee. Any "sturdy"-ness that we saw with the dervishes in the pvp event will probably be greatly nerfed, so I'm guessing that the dervish will be pretty hard to be once we have the nerfed version that will come with nightfall. I really hope dervish doesn't end up being hated as much as assassin. Enspecially if it is even half as fun as assassin.

Oh well, I guess I'll just make my nightfall mesmer as my first char to go through nightfall and make my decisions on the new classes from there...

Yeah, that's why I'm not going to make a Dervish or Paragon right after I bought Nightfall, my first job is to get my tank and ranger to Elona, gonna wait and see if making a Dervish or Paragon is worth it.

I go whit my ranger form faction.
It’s easy to get fast to the first missions. (And explore the game)
Than you get to find some weapons all want (so easy to sell)
I don’t start new characters. (I hate levelling up).
I save now some money to bay nice new weapons.

I dont really think it is going to be a problem. Lets look at the new professions. The Dervish, while they lack armor they receive health/energy whenever an enchantment ends on them, which if they do it right can be very frequently. They may not be able to sustain themselves entirely but thats where the Paragon comes in. The paragon may lack the healing power of a monk, but they make up for it in protection. If think about it, a party with members who carry at least 1 self heal, and maybe 2 paragons with similar but differnt healing/prot chants/spells or w.e they are, it shouldnt be that bad. I think anet has this in mind to end the monk over powered rein(spelling) so that groups can go out and do missions without the standard 2 monk minimum.

The problem i think that happend with factions was that even still to this day people dont realize the power of the ritualist to keep the group up and running. There really is no need to have 2 monks in a group of 8 for a mission, 1 monk and 1 rit is more than capable just remember to tell the group to bring some self heals. The assassin on the other hand is a differnt story. Their only heals are(primary profession only) shadow refuge(4 seconds you have hp regen and gain health if you are attacking when it ends(mines at 8) way of perfection( you have to hit a critical hit to heal yourself)...and thats it correct me if im wrong. The evades the sin has are flashing blades(50% chance to evade "WHILE ATTACKING") criticle defences(for 6 seconds you have a very high percentage to evade(with high criticle strikes) and it comes back for 6 seconds if you hit a criticle) and how do you hit a criticle...you have to ATTACK. and way of desestress..i thnk thats what its called( below 50% hp you have a chance to evade)(you have to be pretty much beat up on for this to work)....anyone notice anything in common here....for assassins to heal/evade attacks they have to be right up their fighting with their 70 armor even if they are being beat up on. that alone right there is why ppl discriminate assassins...they have no other choice to attack, THEY HAVE TO so tehy can protect/heal themselves. i think anet knows this and this is why the dervish and paragon have so much self/group healing capabilities.

well thats all i got to say lol
and if im wrong about the new prof's being able to sustain a group..hench it

excuse any spelling mistakes

I plan on being a Paragon for Nightfall as my first character to play thru the whole campaign with. I loved the Paragon during the preview weekend since I figured out how to use them. They're great support.

Since everyone knows the quickest way to find groups and get through the storyline is to play through as a monk. I wonder if it'll end up that half of the ppl in every district are gonna be Tyrian/Canthan monks trying to play through. For the first time in history there will be too many monks!

This is hardly a ringing endorsement of the 'power of the ritualist'.

I've learned my lesson from Factions. No new professions for me in PvE for at least a couple of weeks. My assassin will try to be the first one through the Nightfall campaign. Those Elonians will be begging her to join their groups after seeing her dance skills

I compleatly Disagree With that, eccept for the Good Farming Spot.

Why? Cool skins (Not necessairly "rare") (eg: Stormbow, Celestial, Plat, Gothic, Zodiac (Crystaline is another story)) Are more Expensive.

When it comes to Dmg Dealing items for DMG dealing Characters Such as the Ranger or the Warrior, People want a general use item with high dmg comebacks, Eg: 20/20 Sundering 15^50 or 15 -10

Whe it comes to casters You want HCT, HSR 20% And SKILL +1 20%

Then the Fortitude or Insight Full mods.

Those are the thing people go for.

The prices have already been set.
